Gas from Azerbaijan to meet up to 30% of demand in Bulgaria

Gas supply from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria will start in 2020 and meet 25%-30% of gas needs of the country, Adviser to the Minister of Energy of Bulgaria Rosen Simitchiev stated, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to marja.az.
“1 bcm of Azeri gas will be annually supplied to Bulgaria from 2020. It will make 25%-30% of the country’s demand”, R. Simitchiev said on Wednesday at the “Southern Gas Corridor and Energy Security of South-East Europe” conference held in Baku.
According to him, Bulgaria is ready to support SOCAR’s projects and wants to take part in their implementation.
R. Simitchiev added that Bulgaria supports implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project.
According to the contract on natural gas supply signed between Bulgargaz and SOCAR, from 2020 Bulgaria will receive 1 bcm of Shah Deniz-2 gas on annual basis.
Supply of Azerbaijani gas to Europe within the framework of Shah Deniz-2 is expected early in 2020. The volume shall make 10 bcm. Apart from this, 6 bcm of Azerbaijani gas will be supplied to the western regions of Turkey.
