South-West international transport route well on track

South-West international transport route well on track

The workgroup on the development of the South-West international transport route has started its work in Odessa. Its participants are railway men from 5 countries: Ukraine, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Poland. The project on the development of the route provides for organization of container freight traffic from India/the countries of the Persian Gulf through Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, and Poland to the EU countries and back, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to Ukrainian Railways JSC.

One of the main advantages of the South-West international transport route is that it reduces the transportation time of goods between these countries. To deliver goods by this transport route is three times faster than by alternative ones - 12 days instead of 35-37 days.

The development of the South-West international transport route will contribute to strengthening economic relations between the countries involved in the project, increasing transit capacity and export-import capacity, improving a trade turnover along this transport route, and improving the access for the project countries to the international transport and logistics services market.
