“The new face of Azerbaijan as a producing country made us create a show like Bakumach” - Mete Ulku

“The new face of Azerbaijan as a producing country made us create a show like Bakumach” - Mete Ulku

“Bakumach, the exhibition for Machinery, Metal/Steel and Fabrication Technologies, will bring together over 40 manufacturers from Turkey, Italy, Iran, Switzerland, Germany and Belarus of various machinery especially used in Construction and Heavy industries such as Ship Building, Oil and Gas, Metal/Steel”, said Mete Ulku, Overseas Sales Manager, Turkel Fair Organizations Inc. in the exclusive interview to Caspian Energy Investor.

Caspian Energy Investor (CEI): How long has Turkel Fair Organization been operating in the Turkish market and who are the shareholders of the company?

Mete Ulku, Overseas Sales Manager, Turkel Fair Organizations Inc.: Türkel Fairs Org, established in 1993, is a privately owned exhibition organizer with its headquarters located in Istanbul-Turkey and its subsidiary offices in Russia and Kazakhstan. Türkel Fairs Org has a license granted by the Turkish Ministry of Economy to organize the Turkish National Pavilions at the overseas exhibitions. In addition to that, Türkel Fairs Org organizes its own brand shows namely Leshow Moscow, Bakumach Azerbaijan, Homedeco Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Eurasia Rail Istanbul, and some other projects in various industry sectors.

Türkel Fairs Org was founded by Mr.Korhan Yazgan who is considered as one of the pioneers of the exhibition industry in Turkey with more than 20 years of solid experience.

CEI: How do you evaluate the results of activity of the company throughout the entire period of operation including 3 quarters of 2012?

Mete Ulku: It is an undeniable fact that a producing entity cannot expand its export frontiers without attending the exhibitions worldwide. We are all affected by the fluctuations in the world economy. Any possible crisis in one part of the world has a significant influence on the exhibition industry. The economic crisis in the Europe, the effects of the revolutions in Middle East, they all influenced our business negatively especially if you are organizing any event in those parts of the world, you either end up with postponing your show to a further date or try to survive with less number of exhibitors and visitors until the market conditions get better.

As Turkel Fairs Org, in 2012, we aimed at the markets where crisis rather hit with less impact. We enlarged our own exhibition in Istanbul, Eurasia Rail focusing on Railway infrastructure which doubled in both exhibitor and visitor wise and moreover, we focused on the markets like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and East Africa with the intention to offset the negative effects of the crisis in EU and the Middle East.

Now we have new projects in the pipeline for Turkey and Libya which recovered itself much more rapidly compared to the other countries going through the revolution.

CEI: What is the purpose of conduction of Bakumach exhibition that Azerbaijan is going to host in December?

Mete Ulku: We have been closely following up the new developments taking place in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan government has very recently started to set some new priorities to develop the other industries than Oil and Gas. As this is the case, the new face of Azerbaijan as a producing country made us create a show like Bakumach.

Bakumach, the exhibition for Machinery, Metal/Steel and Fabrication Technologies, will bring together over 40 manufacturers from Turkey, Italy, Iran, Switzerland, Germany and Belarus of various machinery especially used in Construction and Heavy industries such as Ship Building, Oil and Gas, Metal/Steel.

All these manufacturers are joining Bakumach in order to set up some business relations with the local market players. Bakumach will offer to the professional visitors some new business ideas, and cater the needs of the existing production facilities and the ones in the pipeline looking for new technologies.

CEI: How will this exhibition influence the development of Azerbaijani-Turkish relations?

Mete Ulku: Even though the majority of our exhibitors do come from Turkey, our aim is to create an international platform by bringing exhibitors not only from Turkey but also from the other countries like Italy, Germany, Iran, Switzerland, Belarus and Azerbaijan. We are happy that the premiere event this year will welcome around 10 international exhibitors some of which are well recognized brands in the world.

As far as the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations are considered, both countries have so much in common and a long history together. We are very much happy that Bakumach will be a good opportunity for both countries to enhance the mutual business activities and exchange valuable info about the production technologies since Turkey has a long history in Machinery production.

CEI: Which companies will participate in the exhibition this year?

Mete UlkuWe will welcome 40 exhibitors from the following countries; Turkey, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Iran, Belarus and Azerbaijan.

Some of the exhibitors are; Disan, Şahinler, Cesan, Knuth, Stanko Gomel, FICEP, Hürsan, Dalgakıran, TST and so on. More info can be found on our official web site; www.bakumach.com

CEI: Does Turkel Fair Organization plan to open its branch office in Azerbaijan?

Mete Ulku: Provided that our exhibitions end with some promising results, we would like to continue our activities in Azerbaijan. Currently we have two exhibitions running in Azerbaijan. One is Homedeco “International Home Textile and Interior Design” and the other one is Bakumach. Currently, we conduct our PR activities with a reliable partner in Azerbaijan and as a matter of fact, this partner is already acting as our office in Azerbaijan.
