Investing in Green Infrastructure

Whenever district heating pipelines are inadequately insulated, biomass emissions from a solid waste landfill are not captured and reused for generating electricity or streets are lit using old technology, governments and public service providers miss an opportunity to save energy and cut their carbon footprint while guaranteeing better quality utilities for their citizens, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press service of EBRD.

The solution is ‘green infrastructure’ for services including solid waste, water management, transport, energy and district heating. In fact, green infrastructure lies at the heart of sustainable growth. It reduces CO2 emissions and responds to the challenges of adaptation and resilience related to climate change and at the same time boosts a country’s economic competitiveness.
