Azerbaijan remains biggest investor in Georgia

Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to USD 346.6 million in Q2 2017 which is down14.3 percent from the adjusted data of the same period of the previous year. FDI in Georgia

amounted to USD 751.0 million in the first half of 2017 down 5.5 percent from the adjusted data of the same period of the previous year, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Georgia.

Azerbaijan invested $224.2mln in Georgia in the first half of 2017. Compared to the same period of last year, the volume of investments made by Azerbaijan totaled $283mln. In general, Azerbaijan accounts for 36.6% of FDI made into the economy of Georgia. Together with Azerbaijan, the Netherlands (12.4%) and Turkey (11.3%) are among the first three countries which made the highest amount of investments in Georgia.

Investments were made in sectors of transport, communication, energy, construction of hotels and restaurants, immovable property.
